10 Journaling & Meditation Techniques

Journaling and meditation are two powerful practices to gain more awareness of the thoughts we have. Very rarely do we have physical barriers in life. They are almost always limits that our minds place on us. These techniques help you get to the source of an obstacle and uproot it.

1. What's The Truth?

  • We make up obstacles in our life that don't actually exist by telling ourself stories that aren't true. This technique helps you get to the truth of lies you're letting yourself believe.

2. Affirmations

  • We have 60,000 thoughts a day and 75% of them are negative. Affirmations in the form of I AM statements empower us to recognize what we CAN do.

3. Compared To What? (from Brian Cain)

  • We think our situation is often worse than it really is. Try and write down situations that are worse than yours and you'll realize how fortunate you still are which helps you stay positive.

4. Fear Setting (from Tim Ferris)

  • The opposite of goal setting. What's the worst that could happen? How long would it take to recover? What are the odds of it happening? You'll soon realize that your fears aren't as big, likely, or irreversible as you once thought.

5. Five Whys (from Amazon)

  • If you find yourself in a situation there is a root cause. If you ask why five times, you'll get to the source of what's holding you back

6. Game Plan

  • The daily journal program you just downloaded! Visualize the day, Execute on your tasks, and Reflect on your performance.

7. Gratitude

  • Finding things to be grateful for is an instant way to get present and shift your focus towards positivity, which promotes more positivity because your mind looks for opportunities to be grateful.

8. Mantra

  • Similar to Affirmations, but this is a saying that you say to yourself over and over during meditations or throughout the day to bring you back into a state of empowerment.

9. Perfect Schedule

  • What does your perfect day look like? Write it out for each hour and watch how your schedule starts to shift into what you speak into the universe.

10. Visualization

  • Where do you want to be? What does the version of yourself that is CRUSHING life look like? What do they do each day? Where are you living? Who do you hang out with? When you visualize your dreams you live into those dreams with your day to day actions.
Take the time to write these out and over time you'll start to gain more and more awareness of the thoughts that you have every day.

Meditation is a way to stir up sub-conscious thoughts and journaling is a way to tangibly tie them down to paper so you never forget them.
